Meet Our New Account Executive – Laura Lea

Name: Laura Lea Fossenbarger Title: Account Executive Hometown: Johnson, Nebraska
How did you get into the marketing business? I’ve always had a competitive drive and when I experienced the art of (and had tremendous success with) relationship building, persuasion and presentation, marketing seemed to be the perfect career for me.
What’s the favorite/toughest part of your job? My favorite part of my job is relationship building. Everyone has a story to tell and each of us deals with emotions not only in the workplace, but in our personal lives as well. Active listening and really getting to know clients, co-workers or an audience can lead to incredible results--work related and beyond. The toughest part of my job is bringing differing parties together to get them on the same page. Working together helps prioritize projects and reminds everyone how one person’s work builds off another.
What was your first job? My very first job in high school was working as a dietary aide at the local Good Samaritan Society nursing home.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received? When it comes to marketing, the best advice came from the DreamWorks animated movie “Megamind” that stresses it’s all about the presentation. Marketing is about being memorable and standing out from the competition.
Tell us about your family. I grew up on a family farm in rural Auburn, Nebraska with my parents and one older sister. Some of my favorite childhood memories are centered around my 12-year experience with 4-H, showing hogs and cattle and competing in livestock judging and public speaking. I chose not to stray too far from my roots and now live on an acreage near Johnson, Nebraska.   My husband of almost 25 years, Jeff, works for the State of Nebraska Department of Roads where he is an inspector for building highways and bridges. We have two sons. Cole (20) is a student at the University of Nebraska Lincoln majoring in finance and marketing. His goal is to become a financial advisor. Caleb (17) is starting his senior year at Johnson-Brock School and is an excellent student. Both boys have been active in football, basketball, track and baseball so over the years we've spent a lot of time on the road, watching games and I wouldn’t want it any other way! The boys got to play high school varsity sports together for one year and it was very memorable--their teams won the 2018 Class D2 Nebraska State Football Championship and the 2019 Class D2 Basketball Championship. Needless to say, it was a fun year!
