The Pantone Color Institute has named its color of the year for 2017 – PANTONE 15-0343 Greenery – a color that, according to Pantone, is a match for 376C, a shade we like to call “EG Green.”
Splashed throughout our office, EG Green is a fresh yellow green shade that represents the outdoors – particularly of the possibilities that come with a new growing season for the many farmers with whom we work.
Greenery, too, is inspired by nature but officials at Pantone say the color also represents the cultural climate in our world.
“Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the reassurance we yearn for amid a tumultuous social and political environment,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. “Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate and revitalize, Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose.”
For nearly 20 years, Pantone’s color of the year has influenced product development and purchasing decisions in multiple industries. They say that this year’s selection encourages consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.
We realized the benefits of EG Green many years ago, so we’ll be watching closely to see if the fashion designers, graphic artists and others realize the potential of Greenery and its color of the year distinction.
